Resources for Advocacy

  • Our trained medical advocates are available 24-7 to provide support and information to survivors seeking medical attention in our service region's emergency rooms. They offer guidance on rights, explain procedures, and facilitate communication with medical and legal professionals.

  • We highly value your confidentiality and autonomy. We respect your control over information sharing and will never make decisions for you. Our role is to listen, offer support, and help you navigate your options in a non-directive manner.

  • If you choose to report to the police or pursue a protective order, our crisis counselors can assist you throughout the process. From filing protective orders to communicating with authorities, we provide guidance and support to navigate the often overwhelming legal procedures.

Counseling & Therapeutic Services

We are dedicated to guiding survivors towards healing, hope, and empowerment through trauma-informed therapy and counseling.

We recognize the common struggles survivors face after experiencing trauma, such as jumpiness, nightmares, shame, and withdrawal from people. Our trauma-informed approach acknowledges the intersectionality of these experiences with factors like racism, addiction, and gender biases.

Our crisis intervention and therapy services prioritize avoiding re-victimization and offering options for survivors regardless of when the trauma occurred. We provide free support, including in-person meetings within our 17-county region, translation services, and transportation assistance.

Crisis Counseling:

Designed for survivors dealing with recent trauma, our crisis counseling program offers safety, advocacy, and support. We assist with navigating the legal system, managing trauma symptoms, and developing coping strategies while emphasizing self-care and community resources.

Symptom Management:

While waiting for therapy, survivors not in crisis are offered up to three symptom management sessions. We understand the frustration of waiting and aim to address immediate needs by connecting survivors with counselors or therapists and offering referrals to other trauma-informed therapists.

Therapy:

Our therapy program focuses on processing traumatic experiences and building coping strategies. Therapists use a trauma-informed approach to provide education, skill-building, and resolution, helping survivors move forward from past trauma.
